As it stands, only those in full time education are able to avail of the SUSI grant - ministers are hoping to change this in the upcoming budget in order to support single parents heading back to education

It will focus on helping lone parents who want to go to college, with Taoiseach Leo Varadkar and Higher Education Minister Simon Harris determined to end the requirement for a person to be in “full-time education” to avail of the grant. As well as the new SUSI scheme, drivers are set to benefit from the budget as the government are poised to halt the scheduled rise in excise duty on fuel due at end of this month.
