Cape Breton Capers' Alliyah Rowe. JEREMY FRASER/CAPE BRETON POST.SYDNEY, N.S. - A Cape Breton soccer player has been recognized at the national level for her recent play on the pitch.

Forward Alliyah Rowe was named the U Sports women's athlete of the week for the period ending Sept. 24.The Kitchener, Ont., product was named the player of the game for both contests over the weekend. Rowe scored all four of her team’s goals in a 4-0 victory over the Saint Mary’s Huskies on Sunday in Halifax.

Meanwhile, on Saturday, she added two goals and an assist in a 3-0 win over the Acadia Axewomen in Wolfville.- Jeremy Fraser is the sports reporter for the Cape Breton Post. Follow him on X
