There has been an explosion in the number of companies offering tutoring services to school children ahead of the annual Academic Selective Entrance Test, with parents hoping their kids will gain a competitive edge and placement in a top public high school.

He said the type of children receiving tutoring would most likely succeed in any event.

"Parents are looking to give their child the best possible chance so they will do things, possibly whether they need to or not. "It's incredibly sad that this is likely skewing the population of students that are selected for the programs," she said.

I had to do an IQ test for a job. This is something you supposedly can't study for but I did about 20 hours practice over a month on IQ tests, ended up with some crazy high score (they even commemted) & got it. Practice & effort works. But I would never do that to my kids.
