Indentured servants of industry. 2-4 years of non negotiable dependent slavery in return for What? Education is yours, it cannot be repossessed or foreclosed on. Why do you think so many educated people are in delinquency and default today?

Paying bills is hard....

Yeah isn’t it great? Modern feudalism at its finest. “Work on my land so that you may live on my land.” Keep em in debt and you keep em in your pocket

Careful, Republicans might call this socialism.

That just reinforces irresponsibly in people. Oh you have a problem no worries will take care of for you so you don't feel offended? Or trapped? That's life its tough and raising weak people doesn't do them or anyone any good

As an older student, this would help me be able to save for retirement.

Where is our government? ewarren SenSanders SenKamalaHarris having corporations step in to take care of our citizens; another misstep on the care of our people... Meanwhile the wench BetsyDeVos tries to go around ruling to protect our students

While their grandparents were given affordable healthcare, retirement packages and a livable wage. And everyone wonders why the millennials aren’t having babies & are invested in politics.

I wish my student loans were only $217 a month!

“You load 16 tons, whadda ya get?” Debt is voluntary slavery du jour.

With a job at Fidelity, one should not need assistance for a $217/month payment.

Why exactly should these income items be tax advantaged? It’s income like other comp. And a good thing for employers to do for their employees. And you tax analysis is flawed. Please complete your research.

: 'This incredibly profitable corporation is forcing college graduates into indentured servitude contracts in exchange for slight relief on their student loan debt. Isn't that great?!' Also : 'Here's a bit in our series about how everyone is angry all of the time.'

If the jobs on the market paid liveable wages in the first place, individual debt management wouldn't be an issue. Posturing this as a 'perk' borders on insulting, especially considering the jobs demand those specialized degrees as a baseline in the application process.

'Come work for us. But, please, make better decisions about our budget and assets.'

what's the catch?

Other regulations need to be looked at. I taught in a poverty district, special education, and because of how my loans were reconsolidated I was not eligible for loan forgiveness.

More than 40 percent of college graduates take positions out of school that don't require a degree, the study found. And more than 1 in 5 college grads still aren't working a degree-demanding job a decade after leaving school.Jun 26, 2018

And today’s college graduates are stupid enough to believe that’s an extra benefit. They’re just reducing what your pay would have been and making payments for you. Kind of why they’re in that jam anyway. No idea how to manage their own finances!

I know some “older workers” who could use that help too...

What about 40-somethings with great knowledge and experience? That would be me.

Great. Yet another way to exploit.

Trump about to find a way to stop this private program as well. 'Is it backed by Obama?!?!?'

Good for her and for that company. This is a manageable level of student debt and a responsible way of handling it. Compare and contrast with the virtually unemployable, cultural studies major grads with 100K in debt and no job prospects

In the past that particular benefit was called 'a fair salary.'

One of those employers: the federal government (the largest employer).

Hospitals have done this for years with doctors - so nothing new, but a great development.

Republican Senator's student loan proposal would take payments directly from borrowers' paychecksEmployers would become responsible for removing funds from their employees’ paychecks and then sending that student loan money on to the government, similar to a tax. That seems easy to say for a man that went to Vanderbilt a private university with tuition a 149% above all other Tennessee colleges and Universities for 4 years of school. Vanderbilt cost $46,500 a year in tuition. That’s $186,000 for 4 years. I’d just buy a house has more value By the way Mr. Lamar Alexander’s own parents couldn’t afford Vanderbilt today. His mother was a teacher and his father was a principal, but now he has a opinion on student loans?

Senator: Let's Take Student Loan Payments From Your PaycheckWill your student loan payments be taken out of your paycheck? If one U.S. Senator has his way, the answer is yes So, somehow, I have to go thousands of dollars into debt, with the hope of getting a job that can barely pay my bills, just to not be able to afford my bills, because my wages are fucking garnished to pay for the student loans I was required to take because I'm not rich. Fuck off Trumps bankruptcies and PG& E chapter 11 should be treated so judicially. I bet he’s a Republican....and what do ya know, it is.
