AliVelshi Trump ran on reining in Wall Street and taking away the carried interest loophole that gives hedge fund Mgrs a 15% tax rate. The new tax law did not remove that loophole. Why? Not one politician ran on deducting loan pmts from payroll so who does this benefit?

AliVelshi It’s another way to repay a debt. It’s a choice to incur debt. Past generations worked thru college & borrowed as little as needed for the difference. If you want to find a better job w/ higher pay stop voting for Dems & choose better degrees. Grow up. Taxpayers don’t owe you.

AliVelshi Imagine the administrative cost to businesses. They have to implement payroll procedures for garnishments and will increase cost in labor for those tasks. Also, some companies will not hire or fire those with garnishments. Illegal? Yes, but happens all the time.

AliVelshi This works for taxes...but the left will say there is now way this will work with loan repayments! Maybe we should STOP tax withholding and MAKE EVERYONE WRITE A CHECK to pay all fed taxes, SS tax, Medicare tax, state tax, etc. No more withholding from our checks!!!

AliVelshi If colleges and universities would stop dragging out curriculum, a person could get a true education. Cut all the BS courses, and stick to core curriculum. It should only take 2-3 years for a BA. All other is waste and they know it.

AliVelshi So this is their answer to the epidemic of student loan default mostly caused by stagnant wages and students' inability to find work post-graduation that pays enough to compensate for the massive debt incurred based on a hope for a better future; lost mainly due to GOP policies.

AliVelshi Who is this supposed to help? I have my student loans on auto-pay, I pay my bills. If this is supposed to help the borrower, how about lowering the interest rates and make it so a person doesn't have to go into debt for an education.

AliVelshi I could have bought a house (somewhere cheaper than Portland) with the money I paid SLOANS. Education is too expensive to afford on low middle/middle class income. We need to make education realistically affordable. We will fall behind other developed countries if we don't.
