The story of South Oak Cliff’s rise to an urban football power has been told year after year since it became the first Dallas ISD team to win a Texas football state championship since 1958 during the 2021 season.defeated Port Neches-Groves 34-24 in the Class 5A Division II title game.Now with a comfortable grasp on its district competition and in Class 5A Division II as a whole, South Oak Cliff is again the team to beat as it looks to three-peat.

Just like last season, South Oak Cliff will be challenged early, playing the same nondistrict schedule with contests against all of the other defending Dallas-area state champions: Duncanville, DeSoto and Parish Episcopal. It will also face Lancaster, which beat SOC 21-3 last season.
