The body of a woman in her 40s has been found near a school in Greater Manchester.

The discovery was made after emergency services were called to Ashfield Road near Sandbrook retail park in Rochdale at 4.30am today amid concerns for a person’s welfare, police said.Greater Manchester Police said the incident was also close to Ashfield Valley Primary School.

In a Facebook post, Chief Superintendent Nicky Porter said an investigation was ongoing and officers were working to establish what happened.The force had asked people to avoid the area and anyone with information to get in touch.I At around 4.30am on Monday 17 July 2023, police were called by the ambulance service responding to a report of concern for the welfare of a person on land near Sandbrook Park.
