‘Universities don’t want this. It’s making it harder for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to go on to further study.’ The government has announced plans to crack down on 'rip-off' degrees that don't lead to career prospects.

GovernmentThe courses set to be impacted are those with high dropout rates or a low proportion of graduates landing skilled jobs.

and education secretary Gillian Keegan announced the new measures today, as part of the Government’s response to the Augar review.in 2017 to investigate the state of higher education. The cost of classroom-based foundation year courses – an additional year of study to prepare students for degrees – will also be reduced from £9,250 to £5,760.

So I’m cracking down on rip-off degrees and boosting apprenticeships to ensure students get the best deal possible.Mr Sunak said: ‘The UK is home to some of the best universities in the world and studying for a degree can be immensely rewarding.
