Maelynn Kim of Katy Seven Lakes hits off the 11th tee bod during the final round of the Class 6A UIL State Golf Championship at Legacy Hills Golf Club, Tuesday, May 16, 2023, in Georgetown.Maelynn Kim is a familiar face at the Meadowbrook Farms Golf Club in Katy.

“Since I was a freshman, my goal was to win state at least one time in high school,” Kim said. “It’s been something that I have been working for, and it feels great to have accomplished my goal. My freshman year we were shut down because of COVID so, I lost a year. But I was able to still work hard and accomplish my goal of being a state champion. It feels really great to know that I’m one of the best golfers in the state of Texas.
