A group of education workers called on the Department of Education (DepEd) and the national government to fast-track the release of the one-time rice allowance to all public school teachers. ManilaBulletin

The Alliance of Concerned Teachers Philippines said that public school teachers are “entitled” to the one-time 25 kilos rice allowance granted by the national government to all government employees per Administrative Order No. 2, s. 2022, which was signed by President Marcos last December but remains “unreceived in most of the regions” to date.

The group also urged the DepEd and the national government to ensure that the quality of rice provided is “fit for human consumption” as it received complaints that the rice given in Nueva Ecija, Mindoro, and Bacolod City were “inedible while the provisions for the rest of the regions have yet to be released.”
