Most British Secondary Schools have Proms and many - maybe most - call themselves High Schools.
She wrote the school as an homage to John Hughes' films 🤷 not sure why people are getting so cranky about it at this point.
It's actually really good. But the makers specifically added loads of American features to the English school/life to appeal to an American audience. Takes a bit of getting used to but doesn't ruin it for me.
I managed about half an episode..it looks like utter bollocks.
