Police said they had two previous encounters with Michael Nunez this month.The chief said Nunez was acting irrationally and knocking over trash cans. He spent the night at the DeSoto jail.At 11:38 a.m. on Monday, a woman who was home with her 10-year-old son made a frantic 911 call to DeSoto police. She told the dispatcher there was a man inside her home located in the 300 block of South Polk Street after he walked in an unlocked door.
Dashcam video released by DeSoto police at a news conference Friday showed officers responding to the scene. Body camera video from another officer shows the metal object being recovered and bagged as evidence. In the video, you can see the officer, who is a four-year veteran of the department, repeatedly tap his body cam.DeSoto PD enhanced audio within the officer’s squad car, where you can hear commands.Nunez was a Dallas ISD teacher with no criminal history.
if our esteemed GovAbbott spent less time/money on drag queen hysteria and more on mental health prevention and treatment…. these frequent “ shoot first the mentally ill “ tragedies could be prevented. sincere condolences to nunez’ mother. this should not have happened.
