According to a fact sheet on a bill proposed by Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, almost 40% of the nation’s school districts pay teachers less than $40,000 a year and 43% of teachers overall make less than $60,000 a year.

New legislation would set the minimum pay for teachers at $60,000 a year, a move that comes after President Biden called for educator raises in his State of the Union address.

More federal government overreach. Teachers are state and local employees, not federal.
