Quick — a geology major in the College of Arts and Science who has one more year of U Sports eligibility remaining — developed a love for track and field back at his Flin Flon high school.
“What he’s brought back to Saskatoon are experiences south of the border, but he’s a local kid, Riversdale Track Club, Walter Murray Collegiate kind of thing,” said Reindl. “Having him back has been a great opportunity for the team and he’s been really successful. He broke our Huskies record in the 1,000 metres this year by over three seconds. He’s ranked third in the country and he’s anchoring our men’s 4×800 relay team, which currently has a second-place ranking in the country.
Growing up, Fast was initially a long-distance and cross-country runner, but he’s developed into more of a middle-distance guy.“I just really loved the community,” said Fast. “It’s where I fit in, back in high school. “Advertisement 8“I always wanted to leave home immediately after high school and I had a good opportunity in the NCAA and it kind of strengthened my running,” said Fast, a Saskatoon Walter Murray graduate.
