The Supreme Court likely won’t rule on the case of student-loan forgiveness until June, but the nine justices were revealing their leanings somewhat as attorneys presented their oral arguments on Tuesday.

“‘We’re talking about half a trillion dollars and 43 million Americans. How does that fit under the normal understanding of “modify?”‘”

But Roberts, who has been viewed as a swing vote, appeared to be questioning whether “modify” could mean cancelling a wide range of loans. Before posing the question above, the chief justice quoted a part of a 1994 opinion written by the late conservative Justice Antonin Scalia. “I don’t read that opinion to set forth a universal meaning of modify,” said Prelogar, who was making the Biden administration’s case before the high court.

Analysts have said it’s likely the Supreme Court, which has a 6-3 conservative majority, will nix Biden’s loan-forgiveness plan.

No. No. No. No

What a putz. Too bad, we can't clean house by getting rid of these bums, like we can with Congress.

The SCOTUS is not ruling on the merit of student loans relief, but on whether or not the President can do it rather than Congress.

The Supreme Court needs to rule on the immunity granted to international organizations like the World Bank and the U.N. in the case of personnel decisions. This immunity is used to harm the graduates of U.S. universities who are more talented than their colleagues from elsewhere.

everyone should pay for their loans, I paid for mine and so did my children, what is this teaching those that are the future of our nation

Taxpayers should be forced by Mr. Biden to pay for someone else's debt. They make the loan they should pay it. Get a dam job and make payments, like others who paid their loan back, many by working at a job while still attending college.

Under the Heroes Act, yes.

Sure I’d like somebody cancel my mortgage before my retirement

This is insane. I pay my bills let them pay their own debt. Who's going to pay my mortgage. I got a home ou got a PHD. Pay your own debt NotOurDept

I have questions about where he lives

John Roberts is unserious sounds annoyed

Isn’t is specific to student loans tho

another reason to shitcan the Dept. ED....overeach

What you need to know about Tuesday's student-debt relief Supreme Court showdownWill the Supreme Court find that the parties in challenging the Biden administration’s student debt relief plan don’t have standing to sue? Here are some key issues to watch as $20,000 in student-debt relief per borrower will be on line this week. Executive overreach. President doesn’t have power of the purse The administrative state wants the Supreme Court to rule that the Administration can create its own laws, can ignore Congress, and nobody has standing to challenge it. Anyone supporting this has a worthless degree and had no business going to college in the first place. Pathetic losers
