Houston volleyball coach David Rehr tops $200,000 average salary in new contract

UH volleyball coach David Rehr was rewarded with an average salary of more than $200,000 as part of the four-year extension he signed in January.University of Houston volleyball coach David Rehr was rewarded with an average salary of more than $200,000 as part of the four-year extension he signed in January, according to contract details obtained through an open-records request.

Rehr, who led the Cougars to a 30-win season and advanced to the Sweet 16 this past season, will earn annual salaries of $185,000 in 2023, $200,000 in 2024, $215,000 in 2025 and $230,000 in 2026.As part of the contract, Rehr and UH “agree to meet and confer regarding the terms and conditions of agreement” regarding a possible extension if the Cougars receive an NCAA Tournament invitation in the first or second year of the contract.

The contract runs through Feb. 28, 2027. Rehr can receive additional income based on performance incentives. UH had one of its best seasons in program history in 2022, winning a share of the AAC regular season title, a top-25 ranking for the first time since 1994 and the first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2000. Rehr was named the AAC’s Coach of the Year.
