BCSS has never made public how many eligibility appeals are denied in a year. It’s not unheard of for transfer students to sit out a year of athletics. Steve Nash didn’t play his Grade 11 basketball season when he transferred from Mt. Douglas to St. Michaels University School. The parents were asked about finances, the memo states. That’s because he was moving from a private school to a public one.

The Vancouver Secondary Schools Athletic Association disqualified Kits from the city tournament last week.
