Public school teachers in North Carolina would be required in most circumstances to alert parents before they call a student by a different name or pronoun, under a bill passed by the Republican-controlled state Senate on Tuesday.that the measure could endanger some LGBTQ students who have unsupportive families.
Some parents, teachers and students who testified in committee hearings blasted the bill as an attempt at censorship, likening it to the Florida law that opponents dubbed “.” Others applauded the proposal for keeping what they considered inappropriate topics out of elementary classes. While Senate Democrats criticized the measure during floor debate, they and their House counterparts have offered an alternative bill they say protects both parents and students without putting LGBTQ children at risk.

Kids need to go to school to learn the 3 Rs and apparently basic biology. Maybe some history too. They do not go to school to debate politics. They can do plenty of that in college.

teachers should not be actively subverting parental rights. if the child is in danger at home, get a court order and remove them.
Republicans seem to forget (or they just don't care) that not all homes are safe spaces. Not all parents can control their tempers or behave appropriately. Kids need a place where they can be their true selves. Sometimes their lives depend on it.
Schools should hide things from parents like names and pronouns and bathroom sexual assaults
