In revising its AP African American Studies curriculum, the organization is helping the right reshape education in its own image.

in the state’s schools earlier this month on grounds that it was “inexplicably contrary to Florida law and significantly lacks educational value.” to reporter Mark Caputo on Jan. 20, the Florida DOE identified six topics in the pilot curriculum that ran afoul of the state’s increasingly restrictive policies on discussions of race and diversity in education.

The rejection of the proposed course material spoke to the full court press the Florida government is waging against academic freedom, particularly when it comes to instruction on topics of race and diversity. . The legislation prohibits any curriculum or instruction that suggests a person’s “status as either privileged or oppressed is necessarily determined by his or her race, color, national origin, or sex.

The College Board should be ashamed of itself. This man didn't want to engage in conversation about the content. He wanted to perform a political stunt for his racist base and you people went meekly along with it. Shame on you. This is how democracy goes to Florida and dies.
