So why are they striking?

Give them a wage rise ya tory bstd.

Kids had enough disruption during the pandemic, schools closing, larger class sizes or reduced lessons, is going to have an impact on their education especially the older ones. Get the unions to the table and get a resolution. Not just talk about it.

The biggest negative effect on our children’s education has been this Tufton Tory Govt.

Feel like all these strikes are being co-ordinated. It's too coincidental to be happening at the same time for max disruption 🤔🤔🤔

Even if you half inflation that’s still around 6% inflation which is still a big real terms pay cut.

What a load of old bollox !! How long have other unions been using industrial action due to lack of government ministers attention . Pathetic !!

She's really putting herself out there in the last couple of months.... As much media attention as she can possibly get..... Another Tory plotter fancying a go at the to job?

Even before the inflation rises the public sector hardly had a raise in 10 years due to this government’s pointless austerity.

Get into schools and see the problems. Not a morning visit where everything is hunky dory. Spend a week there and you will see the real problems faced by teachers. Wake up!!

How and when will you halve inflation?

Well obviously she hasn’t met with the teachers representatives or, if she has, she hasn’t offered a satisfactory deal.

Getting attention and getting action are very different things. The former is easy, the latter, impossible.

We ALL need to strike!!!! No matter the profession!!! This government are grinding people into the ground!!!

Hostage taker criticises hostages for not cooperating. Just negotiate & agree a fair sum. Remember your lot lost £billions in a weekend, your pm when chancellor lost £11billion by inattention. You lot gave to the banks & bankers who don't work, so give something to those that do!

No, our children do not deserve it. They deserve a well paid, efficient set of teachers and a well funded education system. They deserve schools with Covid friendly air conditioning, 100% of equipment and facilities paid for by the authority rather than individual teachers etc.

Most parents are criticising them as well

Teachers, in a trade union, voted to strike. The union is a collection of members, the member voted for strike action, in line with current legislation. Is the education secretary a teacher? If not, why is her opinion relevant?

'Our children don't deserve it' is rich coming from a Tory rat.

Can I ask why Nadhim Zahawi’s tax evasion isn’t getting this level of coverage?…..as if I didn’t know!

Who's education minister nowadays, been so many different ones lately can't keep up. Whoever it is I hope they actually know about being a teacher, perhaps they can then do something about the strike ( talk ).

A general strike is a coming

And you call this news?

Great journalism 🙄

Teachers using children to get more money. They are a disgrace.

Michael Gove must repent for his unprofessional handling of TrojanHorse that never was. Dept for Education has been tarnished by Gove wearing his hate & jealousy of Muslims on his sleaves. DfE needs to purge itself of Goves extremist sentiments if its to be respected by teachers

Shame on you all...yiu are systematically ruining the future of these young people

So if schools can fine parents for taking kids out of school in term time, can parents fine the schools dring strikes Genuine question...

He'll be blaming labour soon, all corbyns fault.

So many professions voting to strike. Did the government ever come to realise it’s them that’s the problem?

Well he can still avert a strike, up to him 🤷‍♀️

If it's being criticized by a Tory minister, that's a sure sign the right thing is being done.

Fine the teachers for taking holidays during term time.

ZAHAWI?

She says children deserve grossly underpaid and under valued teachers?

The union didn't vote to strike. They balloted members. The members voted to strike.

Right it wrong it’s there right to strike

I agree with her as again I miss a days pay .. yes my kids but they need to be in school. Taxes go up as we cover towards pay rises ..

Teachers teach to help kids get a chance. Teachers strike to help kids grow up in a fair country. All strikers strike to help their and others family's future.

Typical Tory blaming hardworking people whilst his chum Nadhim Zahawi didn't pay millions in tax.

Wait until you hear about what bears do in the woods…

Any hint of criticism for high-profile politicians who don't pay their taxes until investigated?

The middle classes are revolting.

Can the NHS survive? Be in the audience for live debateTo be in the audience for Sky News' debate on the future of the NHS, live from University Hospital Coventry with Anna Botting next week, email NHSCrisissky.uk. Unfortunately sentimentality gets in the way of having a proper debate about the NHS. Few people would argue about the what a good job nurses & doctors do. But just throwing more money at the problem without radical reform won't solve it. Management is the fundamental problem. Should the NHS survive?
