A 37-year-old man accused of setting a small fire last month at a Lemon Grove substance-abuse treatment center was arrested last weekend on suspicion of arson, a sheriff’s official said Monday.
The man was taken into custody Sunday in El Cajon in connection with the Nov. 19 fire at Kiva Learning Center for Women and Children at the McAlister Institute, sheriff’s Sgt. Anthony Portillo said in a news release. The county Sheriff’s Department said last week that a man could be seen on surveillance video piling up material and setting it ablaze near the lobby of the center on Skyline Drive near Alton Drive.A staff member saw the fire and called someone who put out the flames, authorities said. The lobby door was damaged. No injuries were reported.a suspect.
He was booked into San Diego Central Jail and is being held in lieu of $150,000 bail, according to online jail records.
