The lawsuit, filed Tuesday in federal court in Austin, lists the Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District's police department, the Uvalde Police Department, the Texas Department of Public Safety, as well as individual officers from each of these agencies as defendants. Texas DPS Chief Steve McCraw, one of the highest ranked officers being sued, is included on that list. Parents of Robb Elementary School students have previously. He maintains the agency as an institution did not fail in the response to the shooting.

Parents, teachers, school staff and students who were on scene May 24, the day 19 fourth-grade students and two teachers were killed and dozens more injured, are listed as plaintiffs. They are demanding redress for"the indelible and forever-lasting trauma" caused by the failures of law enforcement to quickly respond to the shooting.

Should Dallas’s Lew Sterrett Jail go under independent monitoring? Yes, by former Dallas Jail Officer Emmanuel Lewis

Why haven’t the officers been arrested?

but Uvalde voted republican...

The school police admin asked for a few million to build a training building Logan's alley... They want to use this failure as a way to siphon MORE money... Make their insurance pay

You really want them to pay, file civil lawsuits against every law man that did not go in there and do his job!

Rock falls on an egg; too bad for the egg Egg falls on a rock; too bad for the egg.

And should include the trauma incurred from officials blaming everyone else for their lack of responsibility respect and response

not enough. bankrupt the police, theyre useless anyway.

Bought my first pair of cowboy boots at Slade's in Uvalde and I sure hope Uvalde has great insurance because Uvalde surely doesn't have that kind of money.

CALIFORNIA LAWYER getting a payday on DEAD TEXAS CHILDREN, nothing to see here.

No doubt Uvalde Texas, population 15,000, has billions stashed away just for this sort of emergency.

Did they name the gun manufacturers in the suit also? They should. Uvalde won’t have that money - but the manufacturers will.

Only $27bil? These people deserve to shut Texas down completely. They were betrayed by the entire government. I hope they win. And I hope every agency which was on the ground, every cop individually, and, abbot lose every penny they ever had and every penny they ever could have.

Make the NRA pay for it, not the taxpayers.

Money is not the root evil, but love of money is....

And now we finally know why God made lawyers

Good. I hope they win. And also, we will never be free and safe in public spaces if we depend on the random readiness and judgement of police departments as long as we continue to allow easy access to military killing machines. We must BanAssaultWeapons.

And they deserve every penny of it too!

The school could have prevented this, but they dropped the ball, fell on it, and watched it roll away.

they won't get 27bn but they deserve something. those cops failed those kids that day.

Forget it, Jake. It's Texas.

They deserve every penny.

I hope they get every penny…
