Once you realized that she called the resource office from the school and did not just call 911 on her kid, I was more understanding. Still a bit may be a bit extreme but at least it got his butt in gear.
That is indeed part of a school resource officer's job description. They deal with the truancies so it is a much better idea to nip it in the bud. One of our neighbors had a son who was dawdling in the morning also, and she called his ROTC instructor. He came right over. GoodMom
