A TEENAGER returned home from school with agonising growing pains that later turned out to be cancer.4Ruby, 13, with mum Debra, from Little Hulton, Greater ManchesterHer mum Debra dialled 111 and was advised to take her to A&E, where, after X-rays, the pair were simply told to go home and rest.

The schoolgirl stayed home from class the following day as the pain worsened before Ruby fainted later that evening. Knowing something was seriously wrong, Debra, 38, rushed her daughter back to hospital where she had several blood tests.
