Here are the three worst arguments for forgiving student debt, according to TPCarney.

The president doesn’t have the authority to give such a massive gift to his base , there’s no extraordinary circumstance to justify such a handout to this particular class at this particular time, and the long-term consequences are unknown and likely to be bad.

— Steven Beschloss April 30, 2022 This is a really bad strawman and an awful analogy. It “works” in certain circles because part of the Left’s belief system is that the other side simply comprises bad people who want to cause suffering. And it gets worse. Paying for dinner is"suffering" under this logic. Serving time for committing a crime is"suffering." Nobody who makes the “repaying debt is needless suffering” argument has thought it through very well.

Follow here for the latest live news updates and reactions. So, who is paying for that? Seems like encouraging bad behavior. Some students even borrowed more than they needed and squandered the money. Also, it doesn't seem fair to those who already paid off debt unless you give them their own $10,000. The missed part of this plan is if you are on a Income Based Repayment plan, your interest will be covered as long as you are making on time payments. That’s way bigger for total student loan debt than the $10k everyone is fighting about. Where is my refund for me paying for my education in the 80’s and m my reimbursement for putting my son and daughter through college? Double STANDARD IN THIS COUNTRY

This does nothing until we have student loans reform. These loans are predatory. Why would we offer 18 year olds who haven’t worked loans or $100k+ and make it impossible to get rid of via bankruptcy etc. Good start but big changes needed
