I joined the military to pay off student loans and now I watch the president payoff student loans at tax payers expense right before midterm elections. It makes me sick to my stomach. He just gave the middle finger to every person that ever worked their way through college!

My daughter refinanced hers so she could afford to make the payments which she has for 6 years. They aren’t federal loans anymore so she loses out. She did the responsible thing so she could afford the payments!

The missed part of this plan is if you are on a Income Based Repayment plan, your interest will be covered as long as you are making on time payments. That’s way bigger for total student loan debt than the $10k everyone is fighting about.
So, who is paying for that? Seems like encouraging bad behavior. Some students even borrowed more than they needed and squandered the money. Also, it doesn't seem fair to those who already paid off debt unless you give them their own $10,000.
