Some people changed to other school districts when LAUSD was closed in-person for 17 months, plus the permanent masking and vaccination requirements. Others moved to home school. They anticipated a permanent 20K - 30K drop in attendance this year. 50K would be massive. Going to a LAUSD school is exactly the same as not going to school at all. In fact, the kids that didn't go to school show a slight margin of being better off.
