Since this district is 95% white, I guess it’s easy to come to the conclusion that there were no students of color in that class or in the entire school. And the superintendent says “district leadership was being trained in dealing with biases.” Seriously? It’s 2018, not 1958.

And this is national news because why? 🤔

The only thing worse than shoe horning in songs is racist shoe horning.

The teacher should be fired. today. First, for letting HS students do an inane elementary school assignment & apparently accepting it. Second, for not stopping them. Finally, b/c the assignment was ridiculously vague & measured no discernible outcome.

Racist jokes: NATIONAL MEDIA ATTENTION Vastly disproportionate inter-racial murder rate: utter silence.

And if the teacher of that class instigated that in any way, they should be fired on the spot.

Kids like to push boundaries, and it did meet the teacher’s general description of the assignment. Not saying it's right, but maybe the teacher needs to set better parameters... and maybe also have a talk with the students parents about what is appropriate in school.

Disgusting and horrifying for sure, but racism has and always will be a major part of American history. To ignore this and seek to cleanse it from history textbooks would be a major mistake. We must never allow the mistakes of the past to be repeated by the next generation.
