Wee slams proposal for MCA to divest ownership of TAR UC and UTAR as ridiculousKUALA LUMPUR: Suggestions for MCA to relinquish ownership of Tunku Abdul Rahman University College (TAR UC) and Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) are absurd, says its president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong. Why is it ridiculous Wee? '...they are now seen as part & parcel of e Chinese community, which has been supporting their operation & expansion with billions in cash donations & land.' MCA should divest, remain neutral in edu or it's just another form of cruel institutional support created during BN era. He owned the property and he need the profit. So for those who oppose the raise of fee, he doesn't give the shit. Education should separated from politics, no involvement and influence is allowed in academic.

Wee: Matching grant removal will end 50-year legacy of affordable TAR UC feesKUALA LUMPUR: Tunku Abdul Rahman University College (TAR UC) has received annual matching grants from the government since its inception, which has enabled affordable fees for the past 50 years, says MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong. Be above politics & don't be in the business of education. What if DAP comes up with a university and gets all the grants and funds? Will you be supportive? Political parties have no business to be in business and especially in the business of education! Ethically, no political parties should own or run higher edu institutes. By right, political parties (especially when in govt) should formulate long term solutions 4 affordable edu. Not 2 engage in 'I scratch ur bk u scratch mine' when dealing wif the future of e country!

MCA: Guan Eng’s decision will deprive TAR UC students of affordable feesPETALING JAYA: The Finance Minister’s remarks calling for two universities founded by MCA to severe ties with the party before obtaining government funding will deprive students from its affordable university fees, said Datuk Mah Hang Soon. Correction, your decision not to separate i.e. disown the varsities from MCA will deprive the students affordable fees. If e govt provides grants to other private institutions they too can provide affordable fees for students. So why must the govt give MCA special attention? It didn't read like govt wasn't going to fund-assist UTAR.. perhaps it's just that the govt doesn't want MCA to be sniffing around the cookie jar..
