The Trade Union Congress has appealed to the striking university lecturers to shift ground in their demands by making some concessions so that students can return to school.

Ogbodum said the Academy Staff Union of Universities had “clearly” made their points known to the world with the prolonged strike and advised the government not to always allow issues to degenerate to strike before taking action. He noted that the peculiarity of university education was such that strikes should not be allowed as an option for agitation or meeting the needs of workers.

According to him, “While I’m appealing to the ASUU to shift ground, I also ask the government always to put a human face in their action.

ASUU will not hear o!ASUU dont always hear, until they spent min of 6 mths. strike dt they av bn using for more than 30yrs with no improvement in govt ASUU issue. Next they will say hunger will not kill them if govt stops their pay. Truly so cos a lot of them work PT in privt uni
