Probe could shed light on police time lapse in Uvalde deaths

Justice Department officials probing the Texas slayings will examine a host of questions about the police response in Uvalde. A similar review that largely praised the response to the San Bernardino mass shooting was over 100 pages long.

A U.S. Border Patrol tactical team finally used a janitor’s key to unlock the classroom door and kill the gunman, raising more questions about the choice of entry. The review will also likely examine how well officers were prepared with gear like weapons and body armor. The shooter wore a tactical vest and was armed with an AR-15-style rifle, a powerful weapon capable of piercing basic bulletproof vests.

In San Bernardino, meanwhile, only one of the first officers on scene had a shotgun and several did not have body armor. There was a bathroom and closet next to the classroom where the shooter was hiding. Why didn't the cops not cut a whole and enter from windows, door and closet at once?

It's crazy because had he been running away cuffed or already on the ground he would have been shot immediately.

So why are parents let off the hook when kids are abused and neglected? Can we have some legislation to criminalize bad parenting? That would change the game! We love to blame the gun- but what about neglectful parents?

I don't want to play Devil's advocate, but I have to side with some law enforcement officials. If the school had been hardened and the staff appropriately trained (as they should have been), the shooting probably would have never happened in the first place. ⚖️

These trivializations of guns has to stop because this kind of incidents show that no matter how trained you are when it comes to a life or death situation everything can go wrong and all the easy talk about how somebody can stop somebody else just because he has gun is nonsense
