The architects behind a vertical Brisbane high school, a restored theatre, and a project that merges two office towers into one building – saving 11,000 tonnes of carbon emissions – have been recognised by their peers for their design vision.
Interior design and use of exterior lighting at Brisbane South State Secondary College was recognised at the Australian Institute of Architects Queensland awards.“The architects have demonstrated aplomb through development of a resilient, refined, technically astute and refreshingly unfussy material approach, delivering an original spatial, tectonic and landscape language through deep readings of place and country.
“The development integrates an existing local heritage building addressing Mary Street in a sensitive manner and emphasises the original heritage brickwork and building blueprint,” judges reported.David Chatfield
