Milpitas’ Madeline Le helped lead the Trojans to a crucial win over Los Gatos in SCVAL De Anza play.

Milpitas softball player Madeline Le is the Bay Area News Group’s girls high school athlete of the week for May 2-8 after she received 14,160 votes by the 5 p.m. deadline Wednesday.

Homestead track and field athlete Ningning O’Brien finished second and Piedmont softball player Izzy Epstein took third.Le, a Duke University commit, doubled and drove in a run as Milpitas upset Los Gatos 2-1 to pull even in the loss column with the Wildcats atop the Santa Clara Valley Athletic League De Anza Division standings.

The junior also had a triple and two RBIs in a 5-2 win over Wilcox. She began this week hitting .565 with 27 RBIs and nine home runs.We also review stats submitted to
