that would be a useful Thermos coffee mug that was given to me by graduating senior Tatiana. Keeps my coffe hot all day, so that I can get warm sips in between classes! 😊
One of our school board members gives crackers, cheese, Doritos, 2-liters of soda, etc. A very nice change of pace but still something I can stress-eat!
Notes and letters. I have saved every one I’ve ever gotten from students.
High school teachers don't typically get gifts. But one year, an incredibly embarrassed student was handing out wine bottles to all their teachers! 🍷😳
A soda one of my students got me during my first year teaching. It wasn’t “gift” season - it was just because - which made it that much better. She just noticed I was worn down and that it could pick me up. I still remember that soda. And her.
A student thanked me in her Salutatorian speech at High School Graduation. Best compliment, ever!
19 years ago when I got married, my kindergarteners (with a lot of help from some room moms) gave me a wedding shower. They presented me with a scrapbook filled with handmade pictures, their advice, & well-wishes for my marriage. I treasure it! 😍
I've used an image of Pulp Fiction's Jules and Vincent as my screen background for years, and it often appears as I'm switching screens on the projector. A student got me this mug, which doesn't make the workroom coffee better, but it does make me smile.
I started in special ed as a 1:1 aide, my first student (& one of my top faves) let me have this... thing... he made in art class. He didn’t make it *for* me but I found joy in it’s bizarre whimsy.
William Sonoma margarita set and full bottle of tequila! Brought to school... haha. (I took it to the office - till the end of the day.)
It’s not really the gifts that stands out. It is the notes that the students write that make me realize why I became a teacher.
I had a student, who hated painting and touching paint with his hands, finger paint me a butterfly and had his mom write “thank you for helping me soar” on the back ❤️
janet_yackle What about students, that GAVE a gift? When I was ~15, I gave my favorite teacher a day-pass (for four - him, wife, two kids) to the local water slide... Saw him again 30 years later, and he STILL remembered it...

I told a student one year that I had an an ulcer I named after her. Her mom made her bake me a fresh loaf of bread. It was delicious.
