Sounds like a government study alright. , sponsored by the tobacco companies of course. Let's reduce the active ingredient so people will consume more to achieve the same concentration. Sounds like a great recipie to improve lagging sales numbers

Yeah, until they smoke them then they are up to 3 packs a day to get their' fix. Do people understand why people are hooked ok cigarette? Try giving alcohol-free beer to alcoholics.

VLNC/DeNics are a neat marketing trick, when people have been grossly misinformed about nicotine being the carcinogenic ingredient.

What about the 78 cancer causing chemicals and the over 1500, which are harmful? Oh, decades of misinformation made nicotine to the danger No.1.

come on now. Please go find one smoker that says they want to be charged more for their habit. Such disgusting 'journalism' if you even want to call it that. Lower nicotine cigarettes means more smoked to get the same effect. This will increase cigarette consumption

The full question: 'Provided you could get nicotine elsewhere (e.g., in vaping products and nicotine replacement products), would you support or oppose a law that reduced the amount of nicotine in cigarettes and roll-your-own tobacco, to make them less addictive?'

Dubious findings such as this are not uncommon in Tobacco Control 'research'. The only field which rivals its junkiness is nutrition.

Nicotine isn’t the problem morons.

What a bunch of garbage. When I smoked (thank goodness I was able to quit after more than 20 years), if I bought cigarettes with lower nicotine I just smoked more. Just quit! If I was able to get rid of that ‘monkey’ anyone can. Save your money, get healthier, live longer!

But it’s not nicotine that does all the long term harm.

although addictive, nicotine is the least dangerous part of cigarette smoke. They will just be inhaling more tar to get their fix. Where are studies on vapes? Why are you trying to make cigarettes 'healthier'? This is all bollocks.

This doesn’t make sense, why would smokers want to spend more $ on darts? Lower the nic.. the more darts they’ll smoke.

New and Improved! Reduced nicotine means that you can smoke even more! More is better! It still has all of those cancer-causing carcinogens you've grown to love!

How about lower tar and such. CBD ciggys could lower inflammation.

I heard that if you switch to lighter cigarettes you inhale more deeply and that can cause worse kinds of cancer. I remember a 90's government campaign stating that 'light' cigarettes weren't healthier. Anyways, I hope everyone can quit. It's a terrible addiction.

Now do how many ununionized, minimum wage workers in the retail and service industries **aren't** okay with catching COVID
