NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet suggested the change following the launch of the women's economic panel forum which raised concerns over the inflexibility for working parents.

I think it's a bold idea which has some merit - but requires wholesale rethinking of the way in which classes are organised & curriculum delivered, as well as more resources. Needs to be something in it for teachers too, or unions will oppose & without broad support change v hard

A 10 minutes clip Dom_Perrottet should see I get it came with privilege, but my school started at 8:45, I did sports every afternoon and then 30 mins of ‘homework’ at school before I was collected by my folks at 5:30. This just makes sense to me. I exercised, I didn’t have to study at home, both parents worked a full day. If logistics around working parents is the main driver here, maybe we should look at shortening the work day as opposed to extending the school day.
