I live in NSW and schools are back soon but I’m terrified about what will happen. I have a six-year-old son and eight-year-old daughter, both who are already frazzled and anxious after two very uncertain years of lockdown and homeschooling.
The starting point is that education in NSW is compulsory for all children over the age of six and up until either turning 17 or completing Year 10, whichever comes first. Principals are able to refuse to accept an explanation for an absence and refuse an exemption if they do not believe it is in the best interests of your children.
They final step by the Department would be an application for the court to make a Compulsory Schooling Order. You do however have other options you can consider which would meet the requirements of compulsory education. The testing of both children and teachers will help limit spreading Covid through schools. Picture: Punit Paranjpe/AFP
There’s no lions I know if at school Terible journalisms
Her kids, her choice. Lots of homeschool programs out there.
Most schools respect a parents decision to keep their child home. All schools offer 'distance learning' to kids who are 'immuno-compromised' or to the parents who prefer to keep their child home. It's really not a big deal ...
Mum needs to calm down and stop ruining her kid's mental health
lol this an advertisement for lawyers
Did she Vacinate them 🧐If so the damage is already done & it was her call 😵💫
UK data shows that under 16s have a 99.995% survival rate when infected with Covid. And that was before vaccinations and before the much less virulent omicron. Parents are buying the fear mongering peddled by the media and their Labor Greens overlords.
Well kids are the safest out of all people as there immune systems are very strong! Don’t believe anything that the government tell you! My wife and I got struck with Covid double jabbed & my kids didn’t get affected at all! They only tell you they r not safe so you can vax them
If you are that worried home school then. But if that’s the case, don’t take them out anywhere. No restaurants, cafes, shopping centres, sport etc because they have just as much chance of getting it there than at school. We had cases last year at school, no transmission there.
Wtf! Willing to risk their mental health & education for a little mild fever! K
Get them vaccinated ASAP and good masks for safest plan. Nothing will be perfect but it’s the best or keep them home which is always an option
You do you NSW mum
😂😂😂😂 Yes the MSM is to blame for this not the virus. Thank you for unnecessarily scarying the hell out of parents that they now have an irrational fear of catching virus that is literally no threat to them 👏
Good. One or two less glass house kids in the system
You should train your kid’s immune system. It is hard to avoid being infected as we are not living in mars
If you are afraid of covid you are a hypochondriac. It's a cold. People with tiny little brains have been easily manipulated by the media.
This Mum needs a psychologist. Maybe child protection should step in.
💯 why trust a government who doesn’t care if you die from covid LNPDeathCount
so who care
Yeah im sure this article is full of trustworthy facts.
This is a genuine concern for many with littler siblings at home to greet kids returning from school.
11 people in NSW died yesterday despite having had all 3 vaccinations. I totally understand why parents are worried. I can't help but feel this is another reckless move. Good luck. scovid letitrip
Be proactive and home school or distance learning centres. They’re always an option if you’re apprehensive about the return to school. What gets you nowhere - whinging.
Good call. Govt letting people down big time!
I'm sending my kids regardless it's been a long two years 🤣🤣🤣 they'll be fine good immune system and strong minded. Young fella wouldn't even know he has it if he gets it. Education is very important and our system has safety nets in place
My two kids have been in school since the pandemic started. They wear masks, are distancing as best they can and neither of them (or us) has had Covid. It’s important to find balance. Kids need social interaction and friends. Be safe and smart and most importantly, relax.
The media is to blame for making every weak minded person think they will die if they catch covid.
Me too….:
Yawn. Nearly everyone I know and most of their kids have had Covid. Most, but not all have been jabbed. None of us are superhuman athletes. But none were sick longer then a day or 3. Talk to your friends and family. Take advice from those you trust. It’s nearly over. 😌
I am fearful for kids everyday. Not planning on reading this article. Please comment, is this parent a Dr, epidemiologist, educator or something. Or another google expert, with a social media presence much greater than it should be?
And so she should be terrified.
Another mum story, proving how many fucked up mums are out there
So glad in Victoria we seem to be in a better position when it comes to schools
Get a grip woman!!
The Mum needs serious help
People like this should build a basement and never come out. They'll be doing us all a big favour. Also, the media and incompetent politicians need to stop the scaremongering over a glorified flu outbreak 🤬
The government and media are to blame for the fear campaign. The Omicron Chinavirus is less deadly than the flu.
