Picture: Angela Weiss/AFP If passed, the two bills in the state legislature, HB 1557 and SB 1834, state that a school district “may not encourage classroom discussion about sexual orientation or gender identity in primary grade levels or in a manner that is not age-appropriate or developmentally appropriate for students”.
“That job can only be given to you above,” he said, adding he hopes it will “reinforce the fundamental right of parents to make decisions regarding upbringing and control of their children”.
Because telling kids NO has always worked.

America.. the land of litigation. Where is the Westboro Baptist jerks when you need them. Kids should be able to talk without fear of ridicule or judgement. Not hide themselves of who they are. Like religion, the LGBTQ stuff shouldn't be forced down their throats either.
This is not what's happening. This is such a bad article. Basically what it does is it takes the power away from the teacher from being able to take action & force ideologues on kids if they're gay or trans & instead leave it up to the parents. That's the way it should be
Why does it have to be discussed at school? Isn't this a parent/child issue not a school issue.
What is wrong with these pollies. They really don’t care about their citizens. This will kill their kids. No child should ever be ashamed of who they are.
Not talking about it has killed plenty of kids for years, it was just a convenient way to help maintain the social ‘norm’.
