MENTAKAB: University students and the Human Resources Development (HRD) Corp have joined forces to carry out flood clean-up work.

HRD Corp chief operations officer Datuk Ariff Farhan said they were at Taman Mentakab Indah in Pahang.

"We have chosen to go where we are needed most, where the people need the most help but help has yet to be fully mobilised."The floods in this housing area reached the rooftops, the destruction and loss has been almost total," he said on Monday . Ariff added that the area still had no water and electricity, which made clearing and cleaning more difficult."There are more than 500 homes in this area," he added.

According to Ariff, HRD Corp had received a lot of help from donors, Vit's which gave us noodles for 1,000 homes, and mineral water from other donors for 1,000 homes.Article type: free
