A well-known girls' secondary school has had to reassure parents after a man in a wig and school uniform was spotted nearby.
The bizarre incident took place in the vicinity of the school close to Cork city centre yesterday afternoon. A tall male, wearing the school's uniform, a backpack and a dark woman's wig, was spotted in the vicinity of the school premises.It is understood that he did not have any interaction with pupils at the school and the principal last night reassured parents that they are satisfied gardai are dealing with the incident.Pictures seen by Cork Beo show him wearing the school uniform, a grey backpack, a short dark woman's wig and runners.
In a message to parents tonight, the school principal said the man was wearing a uniform and was "purporting to be a student"."As always, please be assured that the security of our pupils is uppermost in our minds at all times." A Garda spokesperson said in relation to the incident: "Gardaí engaged with a man earlier this afternoon on Father Matthew Quay.
