A generation of children have lacked “discipline and order” during lockdown, the Education Secretary has warned as he launches a behaviour crackdown.
I'm pretty certain that this will anger my students as it does me. The students have coped impeccably on returning back to school. Yes, many are lacking motivation, but who can blame them. What students need now is compassion, encouragement and most of all, to be believed in.

Our students are back, glad to be back and we have had fewer discipline issues than previously recorded. No education colleagues in other schools have commented that students are worse behaved after lockdown. Is Gavin looking for a headline?

I highly doubt this will come through classrooms. Teachers have barely any control, through no fault of their own, and parents have been balancing working from home, homeschooling and the trauma of lockdown. Now is not the time to have a heavy hand.
