The ASTI said it believes that doubts regarding the staging of additional component elements of this year's exams have been substantially alleviated

In a statement, the union said that following an unequivocal statement of commitment from the Minister for Education to holding the Leaving Certificate exams this year, it believes that doubts regarding the staging of additional component elements of this year's exams have been substantially alleviated.

The ASTI said that at engagements with the Minister for Education and her officials since its withdrawal, it raised its concerns about the staging of additional component elements of this year's exams, such as coursework, orals, and practical exams, and the consequent relegation of the Leaving Certificate to a secondary position.

The ASTI is finding every excuse in the book to stop their sector returning to some normality, while other sectors are crying out for the chance. It’s unfortunate that teachers were not classified as essential services at the start of the pandemic.

Of course they can give grades, my LC student has been given assignments/grades since 5th year...

And the power struggle continues. A union in name only. Disgusting carry. Using students as pawns in their silly games.
