Labor Party has been a 'victim of its own success': Joel Fitzgibbon | Sky News Australia

Labor frontbencher Joel Fitzgibbon says his party has been “victims of our own success” as a recent research paper revealed Labor received more votes from those who went to university, than those who did not, while the opposite was true for the Liberal party.

“I’m comfortable with the fact that we’ve been, in a sense, the Labor party, victims of our own success,” Mr Fitzgibbon said. “The reforms of the Hawke-Keating years transformed the economy and gave opportunity that people would not have dreamed of previously. “Many of the, for example, blue collar workers we traditionally represented are now on pretty good incomes, living in nice homes, they often have negatively geared second properties, they have a boat or a jet ski.
