The SK Runchang, Pahang teacher was shortlisted from a selection of over 12,000 nominations and applications from more than 140 countries. He joins teachers from India, Nigeria, Italy, South Africa, the United Kingdom, the United States and South Korea.Isaiah and fellow Malaysian teacher Norhailmi Abdul Mutalib were previously among 50 educators shortlisted for the prize.
Last year, Isaiah was recognised as one of the 10 winners of the Star Golden Hearts Award 2019, an annual award that celebrates everyday Malaysian unsung heroes, for his work with the Orang Asli children. He is pursuing a Master’s degree in Educational Policy and Leadership in the State University of New York.
