Residents of a tower block in Melbourne's north have been told to isolate for 48 hours after being linked to a nearby school where a student tested positive.

Residents of five suburbs in Melbourne's north, including 120 people living in a social housing block, have been urged to get tested if they experience symptoms of COVID-19 after a school student tested positive.

"The college has taken positive steps to manage this situation and is working closely with us," the state's Commander of Testing Jeroen Weimar said in a statement late Wednesday night.School staff and students, and their households, will now quarantine for 14 days. The 120 residents of a housing block in Broadmeadows have been told to isolate 48 hours and monitor for symptoms of the infection after authorities established links to the school.

It comes after a text message was sent out on Wednesday afternoon alerting people who lived in or were visiting the suburbs to get tested.

Is that the same tower block that has a class action against the govt for breaching human rights?

catch all the positive cases and send them to a camping ground about 500 km from civilization and free the rest..lol.

Hopefully disasterdan can thank Victorians for their sacrifice that they had no choice in and tell us how the strategy is working again today as the CHO hides from the public. Where the hell did 48 hours come from? We have been in lockdown 100+ days?

Sounds the thing is fucked up again, better to get haircut done TODAY🤦

De ja vu

They’re thick as two short planks.

Put positive cases and their close contacts in a managed quarantine facility

The scariest part of all this is that, the current leadership in Victoria, is no where close to being able to manage outbreaks, which will definitely happen....

Fine them as well. Playing victim and constantly getting away with it.

You're so close, Melbourne, please do the right thing.

We need a new strategy. This isn't sustainable. This virus isn't going away, and for the most part is totally benign.

SBS news, I suggest you get some reporters to look into Vic RT-PCR cycle threshold used in testing. It is a figure nobody is reporting and is vital to understand if an infected person is infectious or not. Yes/no response is currently what the results state. No info on viral load

How about we just tell everyone in the World to stay home for 3 years.
