Covid-proofing the economy requires two things: social distancing and an effective test-and-trace system. Professor Hanage spoke of mask-wearing as a key part of this. So can you tell me why mask-wearing hasn’t been the default since June? It’s a respiratory disease. Why hasn’t the government put adverts everywhere explaining why we need to cover the nose and mouth? Maybe then we’d have fewer people in supermarkets using them as neck-warmers.
Femi_Sorry One of the most appalling things about this government is the abject failure to prepare during the relative quiet summer months and get a working track-and-trace program! These things are not complex - even very poor countries have working programmes...
Femi_Sorry Sweden... no lockdown same result as countries that did..
Femi_Sorry The flaw in this argument is that we don't have the spare space to have more social distancing with things staying open. Pubs, etc can't break even when they were designed to be crowded and suddenly can't be.
Femi_Sorry 😭
Femi_Sorry Other UK epidemiologists also available also talking about the Govt failures to manage track and trace. AllysonPollock Govt still trying to PR its way past an illiterate virus
Femi_Sorry The Government.
Femi_Sorry Tory Muppet.
Femi_Sorry
Femi_Sorry Some great ideas here for helping hospitality. He's right that too many bad, ill-thought decisions. No clear measurements for assessing progress. All info held close to centre who make poor decisions. Appalling public info campaigns considering the money paid to PR firms.
Femi_Sorry Brilliant so informative
