There has always been a “fringe element on the left” which descends into the tactics and violence seen on Monday when the prime minister was accosted by refugee protesters, according to former Labor minister Stephen Conroy.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison has been touring Queensland over the last few days promoting his government’s budget, and visited a university in Queensland on Monday in support of its efforts in trying to find a COVID-19 vaccine. During the visit, the prime minister’s car was targeted and defiled with red paint by protesters admonishing the government’s refugee record. Mr Morrison was then screamed at by the protesters as police rushed him to an escape vehicle.

“The sort of stupidity demonstrated today just brings discredit to the cause that they are allegedly trying to champion,” Mr Conroy told Sky News host Andrew Bolt. Former Victorian Liberal Party president Michael Kroger said Monday’s scenes were emblematic of the fact that “global left fascism is on the rise”. “It’s time for the laws to be toughened in relation to this type of violence and this thuggery and this vandalism,” he said.

These people are being held because they have proven not to be refuges. The protesters would be first to call police if one of them committed a crime!

Where's the riot police when you need them ? This is a disgrace and the university should be ashamed. Would never send my kids there.

Where is the story on Kevin Rudd's Murdoch petition?

I thought fascism batted for your side of the aisle Herr Kroger ...
