The unnamed mother has a son and a daughter in a primary school that was forced to send two classes home

A Kerry mum has told how her children are 'devastated' that they have to stay home after another pupil in their school tested positive for Covid-19.

One student in the school is understood to have tested positive for the virus, but they also had a sibling in another class with whom they had been in close contact. "And I've another child, so I said what about her, she's in a different class, my daughter, and they said 'look just to be safe, keep her off as well.'

She told Radio Kerry News: "The kids were devastated. They were only getting back to seeing their friends and all the excitement and the new pencils and books and all the rest of it."
