Liberty University Announces ‘Thorough’ Investigation Into Falwell’s Presidency

Liberty University on Monday announced it is launching an independent investigation into all facets of its operations under Jerry Falwell Jr., the evangelical college’s embattled president who resigned from his position last week after a string of personal scandals.Liberty University’s Board of Trustees has hired one of the world’s leading forensic firms to conduct the “thorough” investigation, according to a Monday statement.

The university defended not asking for a resignation from Falwell, who has sparked controversy since taking over as president in 2007, before last week. “Some may say that all the signs were there for a long time … It’s certainly fair to say that there were questionable comments made, worrying behavior and inappropriate social media posts” said Liberty, continuing: “but all the signs were not there until the start of last week.”

Jerry Prevo, a retired Baptist minister, will lead the university while the search for a new president continues.Falwell Jr. was asked to resign from his position by the university last week after areport alleged the leading Christian conservative figurehead and his wife had engaged in a years-long sexual relationship with a pool boy they met in 2012.

But they're still going to give him the $10.5 million golden parachute, right?

Yep, I bet they’ll thoroughly protect the image of Liberty and its nepotistic monarchy.

Columbia University will remove slave owner's name from dormitoryColumbia University has announced it will remove the name of a slave owner from a dormitory on its Manhattan medical campus. Bard Hall, named after George Washington’s doctor, Samuel Bard, is a dorm for med students. Slavery was a product of the time; history cannot be judged from that lens. I suppose now Columbia University will change it’s name since it’s named after Christopher Columbus. Enough with that crap already. It was wrong. It was 200 years ago. It was the times and thank god it’s changed. Move on. Not one of us has owned,knew or was a slave. Stop changing everything. It’s the evolution of a nation. We need to remember the bad to be able to see the good. Donald would be mad!
