And so it begins.

With just weeks to go before classes start, the Ford government has faced increasing pressure over its COVID-19 pandemic back-to-school plan.

Teachers’ unions, school boards, and some parents say the province must lower elementary class sizes and fund the reduction, instead of insisting boards dip into their own reserve funds to lease extra space or hire additional staff to promote physical distancing. “Smaller class sizes would help make schools safer,” ETFO president Sam Hammond said in a statement. “Should teachers and education workers not be able to expect at least the same standards and precautionary measures as have been put in place in stores, offices, and other spaces across the province?”

Ford has repeatedly criticized the unions in recent weeks, and on Monday he again appealed to them to work with the province on the return to school. But he also said that the teachers’ unions have fought with every Ontario government since the 1990s. Meanwhile, the leader of the Ontario Liberal Party is asking businesses to treat education workers as front-line workers.

Teachers just want what is right for them AND THE KIDS, You and your group of THUGS have no idea!

If the union had come out stating these are difficult times and we are professionals and are working with all parties to provide a safe and as close to normal return to school for our children, imagine how much support they would get, but no, all they do is bitch and want more $$

Its about time. We have rules in this country. An employee can refuse to work in unsafe conditions and employers MUST provide a safe working environment. The ontario gov needs to be held accountable for refusing to provide one.

Ain't that the truth. If Public health and SickKids had said 15 kids the unions would be looking for 8. This is about hiring as many teachers as possible to inflate union due revenue for the unions.

Got to love Teachers and their bloody Unions (NOT)... seen more than enough of them this last school year in Ontario destroying kids futures for their own benefit!
